CERN & the European Commission – CERN’s endorsement of the European Charter for Researchers and Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers
As part of our collaboration with the European Commission, CERN subscribes to the principles of the European Commission’s European Charter of Researchers and Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers. These principles are best practice guidelines, designed to promote equal rights and obligations for individual researchers throughout Europe by specifying the roles, responsibilities and entitlements of researchers, as well as those of funders and/or employers of researchers. They promote attractive research careers and boost employment and working conditions for European researchers.
CERN is currently going through the procedure of obtaining the HR Excellence in Research Award of the European Commission in the framework of the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HR4SR).
By its letter of intent to the endorsement by CERN of the Charter and Code for Researchers sent on 20th February 2018, the Director-General confirms that CERN is deeply committed to the principles and ethos of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers, whose natural integration in CERN’s Human Resources and management processes are already contributing greatly towards promoting CERN as an attractive employer of choice in Europe.
The European Commission acknowledged CERN's endorsement of the Charter and Code for Researchers in its letter dated 14th March 2018.
